Wusmed participates in the kick off meeting of PHOENIX Erasmus Mundus Project
On October 23rd and 24th Wusmed participated in thekick off meeting of PHOENIX Erasmus Mundus Project which took place in the University of Almeria.
PHOENIX is a mobility project the goal of which is to promote academic excellence through joint research, education, and exchange of experience between Europe and Eastern Mediterranean countries: Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Siria.
PHOENIX will give the chance for students and staff members to complete their high education studies and get training in the specific thematic fields identified by the project partners.
Thus, some Middle Eastern students will be able to pursue their under graduate, master or PhD degree at one of the EU partnerHEIs to enable the meeting the labor market needs and serve their local community professionally. Also, some European students will have the opportunity to undertake a part of their studies in one of the Partner Universities in the Middle Eastern Universities. Furthermore, researchers from all consortium members will have the opportunity to meet together to conduct a research for common problems and concerns. The first of the two mobility cohorts is expected to start in mid november in order to recieve applications for the academic year 2014-2015.

The Midlle Eastern partners are: The Islamic University of Gaza (Palestinian Occupied Territories), Princess Sumaya University for Technology (Jordan), Arab International University (Syria), Lebanese American University (Lebanon), AnNajah National University (Palestinian Occupied Territories), Petra University (Jordan), Birzeit University (Palestinian Territory), Modern University for Business and Science (Lebanon).
The associated Partners are: Mediterranean Universities Union (Italy), Ministry of Higher Education (Palestinian Occupied Territories), World University Service of the Mediterranean (WUSMED) (Spain), Friedrich EbertStiftung (Palestinian Occupied Territories), United Nations Relief and Works Agency (Jordan)
Wusmed will actively participate in the project by disseminating and publicising the project activities as well as by taking part in the selection panel of the project.
