ROBOVET: preparing people for more European Success Stories in Robotics
Europe is rich of many success stories in Robotics: from the sector of industrial robots which was and still is the backbone of automation, to professional service robots in agriculture, logistics, underwater, in the air, providing maintenance, inspection, manipulation, and many other jobs to improve productivity, safety, security, and health.
It is an exciting world to work in. The ROBOVET project aims at creating a new VET graduation that will highly promote the employment and will foster the local economic development by providing qualified Robotics technicians to the labour market.
In the following we showcase some interesting European success stories which will open future work places for the Robotics technicians:
AGRICULTURE: Clever Robots for Crops. Intelligent sensing and manipulation for sustainable production and harvesting of high value crops. CROPS has developed scientific know-how for a highly configurable, modular and clever carrier platform that includes modular parallel manipulators and intelligent tools (sensors, algorithms, sprayers, grippers) that can be easily installed onto the carrier and are capable of adapting to new tasks and conditions. http://www.crops-robots.eu/
HEALTH: The MURAB project has the ambition to drastically improve precision and effectiveness of the biopsy gathering for cancer diagnostic operations. Guided by a novel MRI-Ultrasound (US) registration, a robotically steered US transducer equipped with an acoustically transparent force sensing will autonomously scan the target area and optimally acquire volumetric and elastographic data. An innovative technique, called Tissue Active Slam (TAS), will be developed in the project to optimally register the intraoperational acquired volume to the preoperational MR imatge. https://www.murabproject.eu/
CARE OF ELDERS: MoveCare integrates an existing robotic platform with a domotic system, smart objects, a virtual community and an activity center, to provide, through artificial intelligence, assistance, activities and transparent monitoring to the elder at home. MoveCare can be tailored to each elder thanks to a modular design. It is completely unobtrusive as MoveCare does not require the elder to wear any particular device. http://www.movecare-project.eu/
