MUININ: Knowledge and competences in a working process
News&Events
WUSMED opens discussion about the academic recognition of work based experiences for professional development
On March 15, 2018 WUSMED could start this important discussion with the relevant local social actors in Girona as for instance Girona Council represented by Narcís Turon, Universidad de Girona represented by Andrea Bikfalvi and Manel Alcalà, Universidad a distancia de Catalunya (UNED) represented by its ex-directory Montse Palma, el Instituto Montilivi represented by Imma Moreno and Mon Bover, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) represented by Laura Argibay and Sara Vilar and Fundació Universitat represented by Eduard Valenzuela, within the framework of the MUININ project.
MUININ is an innovation project co-financed by the European Union focused on the study of the academic recognition of skills acquired in the work place. More specifically, the main objective is to define the professional profile of future mentors who can guide people who need this academic recognition of acquired competencies.
The topic of the discussion was to analyze the coherence and added value of the current policies of academic recognition of learning in the workplace. The perceptions and experiences about the recognition of the previous knowledge and competences in a working process showed not only the diversity of policies and procedures, but also the lack of a professional figure that advises the possible applicants who would like to apply to University. The definition of the professional profiles and the competences that these professionals must have, as proposed by the MUININ consortium, is a first crucial step towards clarifying and answering the social need in this regard.
The next step will be to design the necessary training of these professionals, taking into account the defined profile and competences. MUININ is working on it at the moment: designing a pilot training plan to be applied in the respective partners’ countries. The afore mentioned pilot plan may be of interest to all the European countries.
We will introduce and discuss this plan in the next WUSMED event planned for September 2018.
